CLOSE ENCOUNTER
WITH THE GIRAFFES

GLI INCONTRI RAVVICINATI CON LE GIRAFFE RIPRENDERANNO A META’ GIUGNO 2024.

Close encounters with the giraffes have an additional cost of €10.00 per person, which is entirely donated to research and conservation projects in collaboration with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation based in Namibia.

In 2024, the Parco Zoo Punta Verde in Lignano continues to offer close encounters with the giraffes, available from 12 June to 14 September on the following days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday at 3pm and Tuesday at 11.30am. Days and times may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Close encounters with the giraffes at the Zoo take place on a platform accessed by steps. The activity begins at the base of the platform, where you will prepare a food enrichment with a member of the park’s education staff.
The visit continues on the platform where the educator will place the enrichment, and where you can experience the wonder of a close-up view of one of the world’s tallest mammals.

  • Minimum age: over 8 years old
  • Participants: max. 3
  • Length: around 20 minutes
  • To access the experience you will need to climb some stairs, and the activity is therefore not suitable for people with limited mobility and/or in a wheelchair

With less than 90,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, it’s time to take action to secure the future of this species.
The Parco Zoo Punta Verde, in collaboration with the Punta Verde In Situ ONLUS organisation, contributes to protecting giraffes by donating part of the admission fee to the GIRAFFE CONSERVATION FOUNDATION, a foundation dedicated to giraffe conservation based in Namibia.
This donation enables the purchase of equipment for field research such as satellite collars and camera traps, and the implementation of educational projects to raise awareness among young Namibians about the importance of respecting and conserving nature.
